Dr. Khaled Soughay, Chairman of the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality and President of ISO, Honors TCL – The First Factory to Obtain the Environmental Performance Certificate for Detergents


 




In line with the Egyptian state’s strategy to support environmentally friendly industries, Dr. Khaled Soughay, Chairman of the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality (EOS), and President of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), honored Technical Chemical Laboratories (TCL) for obtaining the Environmental Performance Label Certificate for Detergents, becoming one of the factories accredited by the Arab Women Investors Union.


The award was received by Eng. Dr. Rami Ghali, General Manager of the factories, in the presence of Dr. Hoda Yassa, President of the Arab Women Investors Union and Chairwoman of Yassa Group of Companies and Factories, along with Dr. Mohamed El-Zarka, Environmental Consultant and Expert, Mr. Samah Amin, Board Member, and Mr. Romani Fayez, Executive Director of the International Success Training Center.


Dr. Khaled Soughay emphasized that Technical Chemical Laboratories (TCL) is the first factory in Egypt to obtain this important certification, in accordance with the requirements of the Egyptian Standard Specification No. 8829/2024. He highlighted that EOS serves as the national house of expertise in standardization and quality assurance, ensuring the improvement of products and services provided to Egyptian citizens, while also supporting Egyptian industry to compete in global markets.


Dr. Hoda Yassa stated in press remarks that this recognition represents a culmination of TCL’s pioneering role, as the company actively participated in the development of the Environmental Performance Standard for Detergents in 2024, in alignment with the state’s direction toward sustainable development and environmentally responsible production.


Eng. Dr. Rami Ghali noted that this achievement reflects the factory’s continuous commitment to implementing the highest standards of quality and environmental sustainability, as well as its ongoing efforts to develop detergent products that comply with both local and international standards and meet market requirements.


He further added that this certification strengthens the factory’s position as a key contributor to the transition toward a green economy, reinforcing its role in advancing the detergent industry in Egypt and across Africa in line with global best practices.


Dr. Mohamed El-Zarka also affirmed that TCL factories have, since the early 1980s, adopted numerous environmental programs and compliance systems aligned with Egyptian and international standards, ensuring eco-friendly production in the detergent sector.


Mr. Romani Fayez stated that training in management and operational practices is one of the most important global standards receiving significant international attention and priority.
